Cllrs Letitia Smith and Myles Scrancher Ward members for Carlton Colville recently joined the 2nd Carlton Colville Scout Group on a village litter pick.
Both councillors support their Parish councils Carlton Colville and Gisleham & Mutford with their scheduled litter picks which happens a few times a year. The community comes together to help keep villages tidy whilst having a chat and walk around the village.
May’s litter pick was organised by the local Scout Group with the help of East Suffolk Council who provided the loan of the equipment used. The Scout Group, along with 30 residents, and Cllrs Smith and Scrancher collected a staggering 26 bags of rubbish during the walk.
Cllr Scrancher said: “It was important for children to see the problem the community had with litter so they would continue to take care of their community as they grow up.
He added: "It’s great to get the children out with the community and show a bit of pride in the area we live.”
Cllr Smith commended the efforts made by everyone that took part, she said: “While it was disappointing to find so much rubbish, it’s good to see the local pride in wanting to help keep Carlton Colville tidy.”
