Cllr James Mallinder has welcomed the progress of the King Charles III England Coast Path, highlighting its immense value for health, tourism, and environmental appreciation along the Suffolk coastline. The 2,700-mile trail—the longest managed coastal route in the world—will significantly boost accessibility to local heritage. 

"The completion of segments like Shotley Gate to Orwell Bridge and the efforts towards the Aldeburgh to Hopton stretch are fantastic news for our region, I am particularly excited to see the new path along Sutton Hoo and around the peninsula, opening new areas to the general public,” said Cllr Mallinder. "This path isn't just a walkway; it's a legacy project that connects our coastal communities, promotes environmental appreciation, and encourages healthy living. While work continues with partners to navigate complex infrastructure challenges, particularly regarding vital crossings, this path represents a transformative opportunity for tourism and nature access in East Suffolk. “He continued to state ‘ as the weather improves, I encourage all visitors and residents alike to walk part of the path, be part of history and engage with our wonderful environment ‘

The project, which has seen sections formally recognized around the East Anglian coastline, is now nearing its full completion, connecting the coastline with improved infrastructure and signage. Most paths are easily accessible and enjoying so much of the national path reminds us all how wonderful it is to live in East Suffolk.
