The North Lowestoft Men's Shed is a community-based, non-commercial organisation. The project encourages people to come together to share and learn new skills, improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and combat social isolation.
The Men's Shed recently received funding from East Suffolk Council’s ECB (Enabling Communities Budget.)
ECBs support activities delivered by community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations. The budget comes from New Homes Bonus (funding generated through new houses built in the district) for 2024/2025.
It provides each of the 55 elected members of East Suffolk Council a £7,500 Enabling Communities Budget to spend on community projects or to develop new projects in their ward to tackle local need.
In a cross-party effort, Conservative Councillors, Andree Gee, Keith Robinson and Ed Back contributed money from their budgets along with other East Suffolk Councillors from the Labour Group. Together, they contributed £3,500 towards the purchase of solar panels for the North Lowestoft Men’s Shed.
The Men's Shed is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00am - 12:30pm.
