East Suffolk district councillor James Mallinder has announced his enthusiastic support for the village of Boyton, backing a crucial community project to install reliable, high-speed broadband at Boyton village hall.
The initiative aims to future-proof the vital local asset, ensuring that residents, community groups, and local organisations have access to modern digital infrastructure. As rural communities increasingly rely on online services, connecting the village hall is seen as a major step forward in combatting rural isolation and supporting local events.
Cllr Mallinder, who represents the Deben ward, commented on the significance of the project:
"Village halls are the beating heart of our rural communities, and ensuring they have modern facilities is absolutely essential. Connecting Boyton village hall to reliable broadband isn’t just about technology; it’s about bringing people together. Whether it’s supporting local committees, allowing residents to access online services, or opening up new opportunities for events, this connectivity will ensure Boyton remains a vibrant, cohesive, and forward-looking village."
This latest support builds on Cllr Mallinder’s long-standing commitment to the development of Boyton’s infrastructure, having previously allocated funding from his Enabling Communities Budget to upgrade the village hall’s electrical infrastructure.
The broadband installation will provide a hub for digital inclusion, allowing users of all ages to benefit from high-speed internet in a shared, accessible space.
Work on the connection is expected to progress rapidly with the support of the parish and district networks.
