SAVID (Safer Village Driving) recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. The group was developed in 2014 by Conservative Cllrs Colin Hedgley and Tony Fryatt, (since retired) and has grown into an effective pressure group for road safety.
SAVID consists of ten participating parishes and continues to campaign on road safety issues throughout the local area. The group has been instrumental in reducing speeding through villages with the introduction of SIDS (Speed Indicator Devices), supporting Green Lanes, ‘20s Plenty’ areas and has played an important role in the Community Partnerships’ Road Safety Forum.
The group and village representatives marked the anniversary by raising a glass, of non- alcoholic fizzy drink and cake, to a very successful decade at their summer meeting.
