Councillor James Mallinder, Ward member for Deben recently visited and gave his support to the Rural Coffee Caravan at Hollesley.
The Rural Coffee Caravan, affectionately known as ‘the Coffee Caravan’ aims to support rurally isolated people in Suffolk. It provides information and access to local and national agencies, organisations and support services. The operators of the Coffee Caravan work to ease loneliness and social isolation by providing occasions that create conversations, encouraging people to feel more like part of their communities. The service and refreshments are free and accessible to all.
Councillor Mallinder also met with local volunteers in Hollesley to discuss and plan the establishment of a Men’s Shed. The initiative will not only be for men, but it’s also designed to bring people together to look at making and repairing objects e.g. building bird boxes. The Men’s Shed, aims to bring communities together, alleviate social isolation and help to improve mental health.
