Cllr Mark Jepson, ward member for Eastern Felixstowe is pleased to provide £1500 from his Enabling Communities Budget to a fantastic dental initiative being delivered by Brook Lane Dental Surgery in Felixstowe.
The funding will be used to facilitate school visits to educate children on dental hygiene.
The project aims to improve oral health outcomes for children in East Suffolk, with a focus on schools in areas of higher deprivation in Felixstowe. Local data shows clear inequalities in oral health, with children in disadvantaged communities experiencing higher decay rates and reduced access to NHS dental services.
The programme provides early, school‐based intervention to build strong oral hygiene habits and reduce preventable dental disease. The surgery will deliver structured oral health education sessions in primary schools and early years settings across Felixstowe and surrounding areas. The sessions will be interactive, age‐appropriate, and designed to build lifelong healthy habits.
The money provided by Cllr Jepson will fund the purchase of hygiene packs which contain toothbrushes, toothpastes, mirrors and floss- designed for children.
